An early house study shaped by the relationship between family dwelling, land division, and rural-edge context.
This project began with a commission to design a new family home on a property in Ílhavo, near Aveiro, in a setting that sits close to the city while still retaining a more rural character.
Although the project did not advance into a full study of the place, the proposal began by reading the site’s characteristics and ecosystem and allowing that reading to inform the architecture from the outset.
The intention was to shape a family dwelling that responded to the specific conditions of the land rather than imposing a house image onto it in abstraction. House and garden were treated as one design field.
